This summer we have some real beauties for you, crossing the price ranges and tastes, there really is something for everyone.
I would like to introduce you to our milliners and their amazing collections.
I first met Chloe Hayward in 2012, when she came to me at Fenwick Bond Street with her reclaimed materials collection we sold out within a week.
She is a very busy girl making and designing her hat collections in her studio (at the end of her garden) running workshops where you can learn to make your own fascinators and now a spot of party planning, as well as being a mum!
I love the way she works with colour and uses recycled, upcycled, reclaimed and vintage materials and unusual trimmings. Chloe creates beautiful, wearable, unusual pieces that span generations. There is definitely something for everyone in her collections.
This summers collection, which we partly premiered at Christmas, is called Liquid. The theme being about liquid in all of its forms.
The moment he covered my desk in tiny dolls, plastic toys and multicoloured flowers it was clear that Piers Atkinson and I were meant to work together!
He can make a collection out of anything, he takes an idea and just runs with it to the extreme.
His inspirations have been film starlets, tropical forests, Barbie & Ken, clowns and circus freaks amongst many other things. Our first collection was of twelve parisisal berets in different colours covered in multicoloured flowers and pearl or crystal drop veils, we sold out in a week. Piers then became a regular star on the shopfloor often fashioning bespoke pieces on the spot for our Ascot ladies including Dame Shirley Bassey.
All of his collections have an amazing spectrum of colour and diversity, there is simply beautiful pieces or some that stretch your imagination to its capacity. Life with Piers Atkinson is never dull!
This summer we have of course the beautiful florals that are a staple, mixed with cats and ponies, My Little Pony to be exact!
Daughter of the esteemed Peter Bettley best known for his supreme quality special occasion hats.
Suzanne Bettley and I have grown up together in millinery, having known each other for nearly 20 years.
On Dads retirement, Suzanne continues his tradition and still produces the ultimate ‘Mother of the bride’ very special occasion collection, she also produces her own ready to wear, casual more every day hat collection.
It is true that what Suzanne doesn’t know about hats is not worth knowing.
Together they even designed an adjustable fit band that is in every hat, so you don’t have to worry about trying for size.
Beautiful, easy to wear, easy to team hats in soft, wearable colours.
This summer we have soft flowing hats, in pretty pink and nude as well as stunning sculptural black headpieces. Again, something for everyone, that won’t break the bank.
